SERBIAN PAIN SOCIETY (SePaS)
The Serbian Pain Society is an alliance of professionals advancing the understanding and management of pain for the benefit of patients.
The Serbian Pain Society is the largest multidisciplinary professional organisation in the field of pain within the Serbia. Our membership comprises medical pain specialists, nurses, physiotherapists, neurologists, psychiatrists, general practitioners and other healthcare professionals actively engaged in the diagnosis and treatment of pain.
The Serbian Pain Society aims to promote education, training, research and development in all fields of pain and to increase both professional and public awareness of the prevalence of pain and the facilities that are available for its management. The Society is involved in all aspects of pain and its management through the work of the Presidency, Assembly, various Committees and via its publications, scientific meetings and educational seminars.
SePaS Committees:
- EDUCATION COMMITTEE – the main mission of EC is to deliver the EUROPEAN (IASP) Core Curriculum for Education to those professionals involved in the management of pain through the inter-professional sharing of knowledge and experience. In accordance with this mission, the committee will develop the ‘Learning in Pain Series’; the series will run as a number of study days over next few years. This programme will provide the opportunity for small groups to take part in lectures and interactive workshops around key issues in pain management highlighted within the IASP curriculum. The Committee also makes decisions on the allocation of bursaries to members of the Society.
- SCIENTIFFIC PROGRAMME COMMITTEE - oversees the programmes for different SePaS Meetings to ensure that the scientific content is of the highest possible standard and that it reflects current theory and practice in all aspects of pain management. This committee is also responsible for managing joint meetings with other organizations.
- Patient Liaison Committee - The Patient Liaison Committee is responsible for ensuring that the views of patients are represented within the Society. Through the Patient Liaison Committee, the Society is now working with patient representatives to improve patient information. The Committee plays a leading role in SePaS information for patients publication.
- COMMUNICATION COMMITTEE - The Communications Committee is responsible for ensuring that information and publications produced by the Society are made accessible to the relevant audience in an appropriate format. The Communications Committee oversees the development of the Society website, publications, and quarterly Newsletter.
MEMBERSHIP
A) Eligibility
- Ordinary Members
Scientists, medical practitioners or other healthcare professionals (whether in training or fully qualified) interested in the objectives of the Society shall be eligible to be admitted as an Ordinary Member of the Society. Applicants for Ordinary Membership should complete a written application form, which includes details of professional qualifications and current employment, in addition to the names and signatures of two ordinary members of the Society. If you do not know two current members of the Society to sponsor your application, you may submit a CV although with a recommendation letter. Ordinary Members shall be admitted by the Presidency of the Society and they will be members of the Assembly of the Society. - Associate Members
Associate Members shall be admitted by the Presidency of the Society in accordance with the Regulations. Associate Members will be individuals who have an interest in the objectives of the Society but who are not eligible for admission as Ordinary Members of the Society or individuals who applied for Associate Membership. Associate Members of the Society shall not be entitled to vote at Assembly of the Society, or vote or stand in elections for the Society’s Presidency or Executive positions. - International Members
International Members shall include anyone resident outside Serbia. International Members shall not be entitled to vote at Assembly of the Society, or vote or stand in elections for the Society’s Presidency or Executive positions. Applicants for International Membership should complete a written application form, which includes details of professional qualifications and current employment, in addition to the names and signatures of two sponsors who must be members of the Society. If you do not know two current members of the Society to sponsor your application, you may submit a CV although with a recommendation letter. - Honorary Members
Honorary Members shall be admitted by the Presidency of the Society and they will not be members of the Presidency and the Assembly of the Society. Persons elected to Honorary Membership will have made an outstanding contribution to the advancement of the objectives of the Society. Honorary member can only be proposed by the two members of the Presidency.
B) Subscription fees – valid from 01.01.2017. to 31.12.2017.

D) The Membership Application Process
Once you have submitted your PDF application form for Ordinary or International membership, if you have opted to provide all contact details for two existing members with their signatures, the system will automatically send them an email asking them to confirm support of your application. Once they have confirmed support, your application will move through the system to the Secretary who will check that your appliation meets with the requirements of the Statute and Regulations of the Society and your application will move through to the final stage of ratification by the Presidency of the Society. Once ratified by the Presidency, you will be requested to pay your membership fees, and on receipt of payment you will be fully confrimed as a Ordinary Member or International Member of the Society. If you apply for Associate Member status you will not be requested to pay membership fees. Honorary member can only be proposed by the two members of the Presidency. The whole process will normally take between 2 and 4 weeks.
